How to Become a Patient
Come by our office Monday through Thursday, 8 AM to 5 PM, to pick up an application — or start one online. Bring these with you when you return it:
A valid photo ID
Proof of your address

Proof of household income, if you have it
We will also ask how many people live in your household.
Missing something? Come anyway. Our staff will help you work it out, and no one is turned away from Friends In Need for inability to pay.

Friends In Need serves uninsured and underinsured neighbors with low to moderate incomes who live in the counties we cover: Sullivan, Washington, Carter, Johnson, Hawkins, Greene, Unicoi, and Hancock in Tennessee, and Scott, Lee, and Wise in Virginia. Not sure? Call or text us. We would rather answer the question than have you assume the answer is no.
Do you take my insurance?

What are your hours?
Monday through Thursday, 8 AM to 5 PM. We are closed Friday through Sunday.

We have a small number of phone lines and no hold queue, so you may get a busy signal at our busiest times. Text us instead at (423) 246-0010 — it is the same number, and we will get back to you.
